Does a lower-wattage air fryer use less energy for a meal?
The rating alone cannot answer that. Compare measured energy for the same agreed food quantity and completion criteria, including required preparation cycles and every cooking batch. Different permitted loads, operating cycles or completion results can make two apparently similar readings unsuitable for comparison.
Two 10 L records publish different power ratings
The catalog provides a concrete reason to ask for energy evidence: these records share several published fields but differ in wattage. Neither entry supplies measured cooking energy.
| Model | Capacity | Wattage | Voltage | Material | Product size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21-3 / P2 | 10 L | 1400 W | AC220–240V | Stainless steel | 346 × 282 × 290 mm |
| 21 / P5 | 10 L | 2400 W | AC220–240V | Stainless steel | 346 × 282 × 290 mm |

Watts describe power; watt-hours describe energy used over time. One kilowatt is 1,000 watts, and one kilowatt-hour is 1,000 watt-hours. The U.S. Energy Information Administration explains these units (accessed 9 October 2026). Its explanation provides no results for these models.
A catalog rating multiplied by an assumed duration is not a measured cooking result. Heater cycling, other electrical loads and actual operating duration affect the recorded total. Confirm the current sample's identity and electrical version before evaluating it.
Define the whole food task before comparing batches
Specify the food type, total starting mass, piece dimensions and starting condition, together with the required completion criteria. Use appropriately qualified reviewers to agree the applicable method. A food-safety requirement must come from the relevant approved procedure; this article supplies no cooking settings or safety endpoint.
Each candidate must use its permitted loading arrangement, accessories and operating instructions. The same total food quantity may require one batch in one candidate and several in another. That possibility needs sample evidence: equal catalog liters or external dimensions do not establish an equal permitted load.
The basket measurement guide addresses geometry and loading references. The preset and recipe guide addresses the operating sequence and recipe outcome. Keep those decisions attached to the energy record rather than silently changing the task to fit a favorable number.
Include every required stage in the measurement boundary
Ask the testing team to define when the session's energy record begins and ends. It must include any required preheating, all cooking batches, between-batch operation and any instructed post-cooking operation within the agreed task. Record whether each candidate starts from the same agreed appliance condition.
Identify the instrument, method, units and continuous total, with stage readings where useful. Do not reset the comparison after preheating or omit a second batch. Overnight standby belongs to a separately defined question; adding it to only one candidate would change the comparison.
Retain the food outcome alongside energy and duration. A session that leaves part of the agreed quantity unfinished cannot substantiate the complete task. Review repeat observations and variation before deciding what the evidence supports.
A single-batch number can omit half the task
Fictional arithmetic example: Candidates A and B below are unbranded inventions, unrelated to P2, P5 or any Yaoyuan test. Assume an agreed food lot requires two permitted batches in A and one in B, with the same required completion criteria. The invented readings illustrate accounting only.
| Stage | Candidate A: two batches | Candidate B: one batch |
|---|---|---|
| Required preheating | 0.06 kWh | 0.08 kWh |
| First cooking batch | 0.24 kWh | 0.40 kWh |
| Second required cooking batch | 0.24 kWh | Not required in this invented task |
| All between-batch and instructed post-cooking operation | 0.01 kWh | 0.02 kWh |
| Complete session total | 0.06 + 0.24 + 0.24 + 0.01 = 0.55 kWh | 0.08 + 0.40 + 0.02 = 0.50 kWh |
Comparing A's 0.24 kWh first batch with B's 0.40 kWh batch would compare different completed quantities and omit other stages. The totals answer the defined accounting question. They identify no actual winning model and establish no savings claim. No food, loading limit, setting or operating duration is prescribed by this example.
Match the proposed retail wording to the recorded task
Before approving packaging or a product listing, give the reviewer the proposed wording and its supporting report. Identify the exact model revision, food quantity and condition, permitted preparation, measurement boundary, completion result and any comparison reference. A single successful task does not establish an advantage for every recipe or household.
A restricted observation may support only a description of that recorded task after review. Missing stages, incomplete food outcomes or unresolved sample identity require further evidence. Keep the broader production release under the sample approval process; a change affecting loading or operation may require renewed evaluation.
Buyer questions
Can I rank the 1400 W and 2400 W records by energy use?
Not from their catalog ratings. Obtain current identified samples and comparable complete-task measurements. This article publishes no measured energy result for either record.
Can I multiply one batch reading by two?
That creates an estimate, not a measured two-batch session. Starting temperature, preparation and between-batch operation may differ. Request the complete session record when the buying question requires two batches.
