Rice Cooker Capacity: Litres vs Uncooked Rice Cups

Comparing a litre label with a cup count starts with definitions, not arithmetic. Identify what each supplier's number measures before approving a purchasing comparison or retail claim.

Can you compare a 5L rice cooker with a cooker advertised in cups?

Not from the headline numbers alone. A litre figure needs a definition: what volume does it describe? A cup figure needs a cup size and a statement of whether it counts uncooked rice or a finished result. Before ranking two offers, identify the exact model, the capacity definition, the supplied measure and the permitted cooking configuration.

This guide supplies no uncooked-rice limit, cooked yield or serving count for a Yaoyuan model. It helps importers, distributors, supermarket buyers and OEM brands ask for the missing evidence before comparing products or approving packaging.

Start with what the catalog actually says

The S-100 catalog record publishes a 5L capacity reference. Its source image presents a measuring cup, but the current included items still require a signed bill of materials and labeled sample. The public record does not define that cup's volume or a corresponding uncooked-rice cup limit.

Keep 5L as the published sourcing reference until its basis is confirmed. Do not relabel it as 5L of uncooked rice, a particular number of cooked cups, or a fixed number of people. The 5L rice-cooker range can help with model discovery; the capacity wording still needs model-specific clarification.

An external example shows why definitions matter. Zojirushi's NHS-series specifications define their cup-based capacity using an approximately 180 mL rice measure and raw short-grain white rice. That is the stated basis for that manufacturer's listed products—not a universal rice-cooker rule, a Yaoyuan cup specification or an approved conversion for S-100.

Keep the capacity claims in separate fields

A published litre figure is a volume reference whose object must be identified. Ask whether the supplier means a pot-volume measure, a rice-input measure or another specified basis. Keep the supplier's exact answer with the current model and document revision; the unit alone does not answer the question.

Uncooked rice cups describe an input quantity only when the actual measuring cup and the applicable rice/program scope are known. A number without its measuring method is incomplete. Do not substitute a kitchen measuring cup or another supplier's accessory merely because both are called a cup.

Pot marks and cooking limits must be read with the correct pot, menu and instructions. Ask what each relevant line means and how it relates to the documented rice input. A marking is not permission to fill every ingredient or operate every program to the same level.

Cooked output and servings are different claims. They need their own stated evaluation basis, including the finished quantity being described and, for portions, the portion definition. Do not generate a serving claim from a catalogue litre number or a general uncooked-to-cooked multiplier.

A capacity-definition comparison worksheet

The entries below are questions to answer, not measured results or accepted specifications.

Record a separate capacity definition for each candidate
Field to alignRecord for each candidateWhy it affects the comparison
Exact product and vesselModel, electrical version, sample ID, pot and any basket/insert reference.Similar-looking pots or a shared family name do not establish the same configuration.
Published capacity phraseExact wording, unit, source page and revision; supplier's written definition.A litre label and a cup label cannot be ranked before their meanings are known.
Measuring cupIncluded item reference, stated volume and intended measurement method. The word “cup” alone does not define a reproducible amount.
Permitted rice inputDocumented minimum/maximum scope, rice type and applicable program. One menu or rice type does not approve every other load or preparation.
Pot markingsLabeled photograph, meaning of the relevant marks and matching manual reference.A line must be interpreted with the correct vessel and instructions.
Cooked result or portionsOnly the supported output/portion wording, its evaluation reference and limitations.Cooked output, raw-rice capacity and meal portions are not interchangeable claims.
Buyer-facing wordingDraft label, manual and product-listing statement, plus review owner.Purchasing, artwork and the supplied accessory must describe the same approved basis.

Where a field is unresolved, write “to confirm” and identify the evidence needed. If the two candidates use different, clearly defined bases, retain both definitions; do not make them appear equivalent by removing the qualification from a quotation table.

Decide what the comparison can support

Definition confirmed: the record states what the number measures, the applicable model/configuration and the supporting document. This establishes a usable definition, not cooking-performance superiority.

Different basis: the offers describe different quantities or operating scopes. Clarify a common buyer requirement before comparing their headline capacity.

Evidence pending: the cup, capacity basis, program or vessel identity is missing or contradictory. Keep the proposed claim open rather than calculating a replacement value.

For example, if one offer only says “5L” and another explicitly states an uncooked-cup count, the first next step is to clarify the 5L definition. Dividing the published litres by a cup volume borrowed from another manufacturer does not resolve the missing capacity definition.

The rice-cooker inner-pot and cooking sample-approval guide remains the detailed route for pot, lid, heating, controls, accessories and cooking evaluation. Once the definition is clear, the actual sample and instructions must still support the selected order version. This article is not a cooking recipe or an approval to exceed a product's limits.

Do not transfer one capacity claim across cooking routes

If a proposed assortment includes a conventional cooker, a pressure cooker or a low-sugar configuration, give each its own capacity record. Confirm the pot and any insert or basket actually used for the claimed mode. Do not sum alternative vessels into one simultaneous capacity or inherit a conventional-mode limit for another configuration.

This distinction does not establish a nutritional result or approve a pressure-related use. The manufacturer's current instructions and the exact sample scope control the evaluation. Keep cooking-capacity clarification separate from any health, safety or destination-market claim.

Carry the definition into retail packing and repeat orders

Ask the buyer's artwork reviewer to reconcile the front-box capacity phrase, product listing, manual, measuring accessory and pot markings. A translated “cup” or “litre” statement must preserve the approved meaning; it should not quietly change from raw-rice input to cooked output.

Retain the underlying document and sample revision. If a pot, cup, basket or program changes on a repeat order, check whether the old capacity wording still applies before reusing artwork. A familiar model name is not evidence that every component and capacity statement stayed the same.

Six fields for a private capacity-clarification RFQ

  1. Buyer: company, destination country and sales channel.
  2. Product: selected rice-cooker catalog reference, or a capacity direction if the model is not yet chosen.
  3. Capacity question: exact published wording and the missing litre/cup/input/output definition.
  4. Version and evidence: plug, voltage, relevant frequency, vessel/accessory references and current specification or sample information.
  5. Retail wording: intended packing language and any proposed cup, yield or portion statement needing review.
  6. Order: quantity by model, packing, OEM requirements and destination port.

Unknowns may be marked “to confirm” in an initial discussion. A final quotation needs the exact product model, quantity, country, plug, voltage, packing, OEM request and destination port.

Yaoyuan Electric supplies factory-direct wholesale projects. MOQ starts from 1000 PCS; retail and one-piece orders are not accepted. Prices are private. A capacity question or sample reference does not establish stock, certification, production timing or delivery.

Buyer questions

Does a 5L catalog label tell me the uncooked rice cup limit?

No. Confirm what the 5L figure describes, the actual supplied cup, the relevant rice/program scope and the current instructions. The S-100 public record does not provide an uncooked-cup limit, so this guide does not supply one.

Can I use 180 mL as the cup size for every supplier?

No. It is part of the cited Zojirushi product example, not a universal supplier specification. Confirm the measure included with the exact proposed Yaoyuan version instead of borrowing another product's cup definition.

Can the same capacity wording cover every menu and basket?

Not without supporting model-specific evidence. Record the actual pot, insert or basket and the applicable program. Leave unsupported cooked-output, serving and alternative-mode claims out of the approved wording until reviewed.
